"My Little Colossus" by Blondeyetti3

"Shadow of the Patapon" by Vitor Caneco4

"SOTC" by Maitaboris

"Shadow of the Munny" by Matthew Ellison5

1 Who doesn't love Little Nemo? The pairing of Nemo and a Colossus is genius, for the record.
2 A Shadow of the Colossus\Mother 3 mashup. Nothing more to say except I like how well this captures the tone and spirit of both games. And the querying "Is there a bug on me?" question mark over the Colossus' head.
3 I am not a brony. I honestly do not get that weird little niche subculture of 20- and 30-year-old dudes who are really into MLP:FIM. That said, I thought this pony Colossus was some fine work, from the mossy patches to the glowing section on the rump.
4 I've never actually played Patapon, but this looks about right.
5 I've been getting back into vinyl custom figures lately and I came across this in my internet travels. Very nice work.

Chomping At The Bit

I haven't posted any vinyl customs lately, but I'm really taken by Jared "NikeJerk" Cain's "Chomping At The Bit" series of Super Mario Bros.-themed toys. Makes me wish I had more money to spend on custom figures, in fact. Check out the link for more examples of his excellent work.

So Analog by Squid Kids Ink.

(Click for larger image)

These are super rad. Meet 10-Doh!, B-Side, and A-Drive, three prototype vinyl figures from Squid Kids Ink. They'll be debuting at DesignerCon 2010 in Pasadena, CA on November 20th. Sadly, since these are only prototypes, they won't be for sale - though there may be a few blanks available for purchase at the Con.

My love of vinyls is well-documented and I can think of nothing better than seeing the So Analog series earn itself a solo custom show (with the exception of maybe owning a few of them). So if you're in the Pasadena area on the 20th of November and you happen to stop by D-Con, make sure you give these sculpts the proper adulation they deserve - and if you so happen to feel like grabbing a blank 10-Doh! for me at the same time, well, I wouldn't turn my nose up at it.

Soopa Coin-Up Bros.

Now this is how you do a blank figure ripe for customisation. Erick Scarecrow molded the 7" Soopa Coin-Up Bros. sculpt and offered up a limited edition vinyl run for sale for the paltry sum of $30 through Esc-Toy (sadly no longer available through official channels, but UrbanRetro is selling the white edition for £22.99 while supplies last). The blank comes packaged with a hoard of stickers for the screen, marquee and cabinet.

The Soopa Show was held in April at Concrete Jungle in NYC and the pieces on display were impressive, to say the least. Click on any of the images below to bask in the glory of full-size.
